For my ceramics project, I made a 3D sculpture based on the painting The Scream by Edvard Munch. My plan was to turn the main figure from the painting into a clay sculpture and keep it simple while still making it recognizable. I focused on the overall shape of the body, the hands near the face, and the open mouth so it matched the original artwork. Edvard Munch was a Norwegian artist known for creating expressive artwork, and I chose him because The Scream is a well known painting with a clear figure to work from. While working on this project, I learned that sculpting in clay is difficult, especially when time is limited, and parts of my project were rushed near the end. Reflecting on my work, I think the sculpture turned out okay, even though it is not very detailed, and if I had more time, I would improve the shape and smoothness, but I did get it fired, so I can't complain. The final photo of my artwork shows the completed sculpture and how it relates to Munch’s original painting.

Edvard Munch was a Norwegian artist who lived from 1863 to 1944 and is best known for his painting The Scream. His artwork often focused on everyday subjects but showed them in a dramatic and exaggerated way. Munch did not try to make his art look realistic; instead, he used simple shapes and figures to get his ideas across. Many of his works became very famous because of their unique style, and The Scream is now one of the most recognizable paintings in the world.
